I've seen one off the Oregon coast before. I was on a fishing charter, we saw one just floating at the surface. It was fairly big, just sat there, didn't move much. It was very cool to see though.

i've only seen photos and videos, not a sighting myself though. #-o nice find!

back on the east coast, we used to see ocean sunfish a couple times a year. when they'd come to the surface, their fins poking out of the water used to scare the pants off of us kids. the parents always got a kick out of seeing twenty or so kids run screaming from the shallows...
