Here's a shot of a smaller coral colony with the polyps extended to feed:

Very Cool! The contrast in appearance between the one in the foreground (which I'm assuming is the same species but with polyps withdrawn) is striking!

Definitely moves this place up on my "must dive" list!

Yes, you are correct - they are both the same species. I'm not sure why one would be "active" and the other not since they were only about a foot or two apart...but then who knows how corals "think"?
