NW Wreck Dives book now available!

Postby nwscubamom » Wed Nov 19, 2008 11:08 am

After a LOT of research (and a lot of diving, which I'm sure was a horrible sacrifice) our own Boydski (Scott Boyd) and his cohort, Jeff Carr, have completed researching, writing and publishing their new book - Northwest Wreck Dives. :bounce:

nwwreckdives.jpg
nwwreckdives.jpg (35.59 KiB) Viewed 1206 times

This 208 page book contains over 120 wreck dives, about 30 of which are accessible by shore (which is important to us lame, non-boat-owning divers). The areas covered are:
- Puget Sound
- Straits of Juan de Fuca
- San Juan Islands
- Hood Canal

Some of these wrecks are unknown and unpublished (well, that is, before now anyway - duh!) #-o and you get all the juicy details like position, current corrections, depths and maps to help you plan a safe and successful dive.

What's really cool is the Seattle Times Book Critic has asked to review the book! So is that person a diver? Enquiring minds want to know.

You can read more about the new book here: http://northwestwreckdives.com/

Scott and Jeff, being the cool guys they are, will even autograph and write profound things in the cover of your own copy if you ask them to.

The new books are IN STOCK and available for immediate shipping. I just ordered my copy (using handy PayPal, but credit cards are also accepted) here:
http://www.boydski.com/Store/book.htm
It cost a smidge over $30 with shipping and tax included.

Scott and Jeff - nice going and a great addition to our NW diving resources!

Very cool!
The message propagated in other circles of the ccr diving world of staying on the rebreather at all costs while dealing with an emergency is massively problematic

Just got mine in the mail today. I like the drawings that they have included of how the wrecks sit on the bottom. I'm making my list now of wrecks that I want to go visit. Good Job Mr. Boyd and Mr. Carr.

Thanks,

Mike

So did they write #9 in fancy schmancy gold lettering on the cover?

Did Scott include any of his way cool photos in it?

Ok, which one of you stole my copy out of my mailbox? I got home, ran to the mailbox and nothing but junk mail. I know one of you has my copy. I will find the culprit.

Ooooooh, I just ordered my copy and requested in the "merchant instructions" for something "witty and profound" to be inscribed in the book. This gives you time to think Scott....

Congrats, btw! :salute: \:D/ :smt038

#9 written on the inside next to the message to Baby Sounder.

The book is black & white and is a thorough "guide book" for the dive sites. Maps, drawings, and some b&w photography are provided along with excellent site descriptions.

Excellent Book Scott - my compliments!
Scott came to our diveclub meeting last night and spoke about his book. I bought 2 copies, one for me and one as a gift. It's great I've been waiting for a good reference to come along on Puget Sound wrecks. It's well written and well researched.

Nice book! Scott and Jeff did an outstanding job. I look forward to exploring some of these hidden treasures.

Now, did anyone else notice the strange symbol on page 191? It's the only time I've seen that particular symbol on any of the drawings, the diagram is a wreck called the "Puget sound El-Lame-O. Given the glorious write-up about this wreck on page 123, I can only guess that this mystery symbol is a stinky pile of poo! Very clever. :evil4:
