I just posted a new article with photos on diving the wreck of the Vanlene up in Barkley Sound, off the West coast of Vancouver Island. I hope that you will enjoy it! Here's the link:

Very good read. Sounds like an intersting dive even for us non Tech/Wreckies

Thanks! Yeah, it's a great dive and most of the wreck is well within recreational limits. The challenge is getting out to the dive site, as quite often the waters at the entrance to the sound can be quite.....shall we say...."uncooperative"!Mattleycrue76 wrote:Very good read. When I was at Rendevous last year I so wanted to do that dive, but the weather didn't cooperate. When I was about 16 a friend and I got to walk around all over the ship. It was an amazing sight up on the rocks before it fully submerged.

I feel your pain.....I have been up there several times and at least half of them we simply couldn't safely reach the Vanlene due to weather and water conditions, but BOY, when you DO get to her it's really a great dive! There are plenty of other great dives in Barkley Sound, though, that kept us occupied and happy.4ster wrote:When I was at Rendevous last year I so wanted to do that dive, but the weather didn't cooperate. For anyone wondering what the rest of Barkley Sound looks like underwater, see this link: http://john-rawlings.newsvine.com/_news ... s-paradise
