Sooo... How Many Dives Did You Do in 2008?

One of the fun things about logging your dives in a computer is the instant return of how many dives you've done when.

I'd love to know:
a. How many dives did you do this year?
b. Did you log them? (If you didn't log them, how would you know?)

And feel free to throw in any other extraneous info about your diving for the year as well!

**I logged 148 dives this year, my most ever! And interestingly my log program tells me that I've logged 90 of those dives in the last 6 months, so I'm either on a roll or making up for lost time. And, another fun part of having a computer running statistics, is that I've been averaging over an hour a dive for the last 6 months as well. Fun! It's been a good diving year!

I was definitely off my game and only managed to get in around 100 dives. 'course I was dry for about 6 weeks and a bit limited for my first few weeks after that, then changed jobs and was busy with that, but still, I can't complain. In those dives I managed to complete Advanced Nitrox, Deco Procedures, Trimix, and Intro to Cave, plus the HSA Instructor course. Not bad I s'pose.

Anyone else? (beside Grateful Diver, I mean. We know he did about 557....)

Yes, I still log every single one of them. I have about 135 REEF Surveys to put in. Wonder when I will get around to doing those? And I thought the online system would make it easier.

One of the weird stats that my log book calculates is the sum of the maximum depths, so, I have apparently dove to a combined depth of 27,022 feet. Not sure why that is important, but... The log book also has some weird depth spans, the top end is depths greater than 360 feet. There are 7 bands between 150 feet and 360 feet. Guess I need some additional training to get to those depths.

Oops, guess I forgot to answer part B; yes, I still log each and every one of my dives, it's my favorite post-dive ritual. Not that I'm anal about it, no, not at all, but I do find it satisfying to jot in the numbers, tally my total u/a time to date, put in pictures and stickers etc.

Okay, maybe I am a bit anal about it..... but it's mostly harmless (to quote Douglas Adams)

Not bad?!? Are you kidding? :-) I'll bet there's a ton of folks that would love to have your "off" diving year! And as far as being anal... there are lots WORSE things that you could be obsessive compulsive about!

I have no Idea but it was a bunch! Just finished the last one. Nice little 40 minutes. At least the water was warm, the air is about 0' .

I think the most in a single day was probably about 6 averaging 20-30 minutes. Longest was 101 minutes, Deepest was 265'.

I got 8 in Mexico 5 of those were with my 11 y/o son as my buddy. 10 in Catalina and 3 in San Diego.

i did 72 dives in 2008, which is twice as many as i did in 2007 (i was certified in feb 07). seems like a decent number considering i drive 2.5+ hours each way to get up there to dive, and generally only have weekends free.

i'm hoping for 100 in '09.

and yes, i log my dives, both in a logbook and downloaded to my computer. i'm a dork like that.

I did 91 dives this year, starting in May. 77 of those dives were between mid-July and yesterday. All but 17 of those dives were with active members of this board, if that encourages any of the lurkers out there to speak up. I did not know any of you until July and now I am lucky enough to count many of you as friends both above and underwater. Thanks to all of you.
I call your Dorkness Spatman and raise you a healthy dose of dive log OCD. My electronic dive log tells me that my worst RMV (highest) was 3.2 (that is not a typo, 3.2. ) and that my best (lowest) was .36. My paper dive log shows that my current average over the past 20 dives is .56. Yeah, I log them all. The computer keeps track of the numbers and the paper keeps track of what I saw, who I saw it with, and how I felt about the dive.

How many dives this year? Wow. Talk about a sore subject! This was a HORRIBLE year for me in terms of quantity. The dives I did get in were great, but too few. I won't tolerate that in 2009. In fact the first dive of 2009 is in 11 hours.

I did 89, "All Cold"' Dives this year.
10 of those were in Sitka @ 39F!

I dove almost every week in 2008! (One or two dives as long as I got my weekly fix)

I Log all of my dives, Down loaded, to my home PC.
I have half of those printed out and put in my Paper dive log.
Here's to another 89 or more dives in 2009 :occasion5:
I would be happy with just 52, as long it is once a week, every week!

(btw, kate, i do the same thing with my computer and paper logs. though the paper one i also use for tracking weighting with various tanks sizes and general gear config. when i travel, i grab the logbook in case i need to look these things up...)

I got 183 dives in in 2008 (plus a few training dives I lost, when I forgot to download my Aladin until it started dumping data). I was amazed to discover, though, that SEVENTY-NINE of them were (non training) cave dives! My local diving definitely slowed down this year, largely because of my work schedule.

I download all my dives, and then annotate the pages. I LOVED the logging software for the Aladin, which even lets you put pictures in each dive's file. The X1, not so much . . .

2008 was a great year -- I dove with dolphins and saw my first manta, and tried to sink our boat. I dove with new friends and old ones, and stretched my own personal limits. I'm looking forward to more of the same in 2009, and maybe I'll get to meet some of you that I only know from on line!

I don't log, but my various timers and computers keep track of the numbers. I'm somewhere just over 100 this year thanks to the Bonaire boost. It's a much smaller number than I would have hoped, but I've got Baby Sounder instead which is pretty cool. I don't log and I have no idea how those who do continue to do so... I find it incredibly annoying to kudos to those of you who do. As for Valerie, her log book is insane - it's more like a "scrapbook with dive info." Even if I did get back to logging, I would, with certainty, never have a log book that fancy, sparkly, shiny, or glamorous.

I did 30-40 in the first half of the year, I was hoping to break 300 total; but I met the love of my life and have been dealing with life and making enough money for last summers gas prices.

I made 113 dives this year, mostly researching for The Perfect Dive website, so a lot of time was spent doing busy work instead of diving. But it did include trips to Monterey and Victoria - Both AWESOME! I log everything and here's some of the stuff I keep track of: 92.72 hours underwater for the year. Avg Depth 67'. Avg Bottom Time 52 minutes. 8 Deco dives, 28 night dives, 9 wreck dives, 21 boat dives, and 4 spear-fishing dives.
