It burrows into a den, if a predator threatens it :burntchef: it breaks into 3 distinct parts, one attracts the predator by wiggling and sacrificing itself to save the other parts. :80sdance: The remaining parts crawl off... supposedly to regrow I'm guessing.....

Yip sure sounds like an alien to me... :rocket:

I'm waitin' to see if anyone notices anything weird about Jeff :zots:
Ripper of drysuits, mocker of divers...there are no atheist divers in a mistimed Deception Pass dive. Jeremy

I can't remember my password, so in answer to "old salt"/Curt's statement "....These pop up all the time" curious. I have never seen one and we have some pretty good observers of nature on this forum that were stumped as well. I think Jeff had a real find. I am impressed."....

Perhaps it's more accurate to say that pictures of Chaetopterus hinds ends pop up all the time in my mailbox, sent by people who want to know what they are. In other words, I see them a lot and I don't even dive!

Cheers, Leslie

I am so, so, SO creeped out right now. The photos on that page were Just. Too. Much. At least all in one place. Yeow. Fascinating and skin crawling at the same time. I'm sitting at my desk and had just eaten a hard boiled egg. This is not good, folks, not at all.

Glad the mystery is solved; that's fascinating.

Greg, Greg, Greg.... When are you going to get over your little exoskeleton fixation? It's time to bristle up and face facts.... If I had meant the second most wonderful group of animals in the whole wide world :burntchef: I would have said so!
