ordiver and i did a dive today at merwin. our goal was to putz around and for ordiver to practice shooting his smb a couple times. our goal was achieved, but we were almost numb after 40 minutes in 40 degree water.
if you're planning on diving merwin, add a couple layers and a few extra pounds of lead...
Lake Merwin is F'n COLD

Was there anything interesting to see? How was the vis?

no, and sucked.nwbobber wrote:Was there anything interesting to see? How was the vis?
(we saw logs, rocks, a couple beers cans, and an old fishing lure or two. viz was between 5-10, getting worse as you went deeper.)

At least you don't have to rinse your gear.

That's weird I was just about to post the same thing only I was just going to refer to the smell as "Merwin Stink". Good call on adding a bit of Francais in to the post. I feel a bit more cultured after reading it.
By the way, I don't think that your dry glove full of water helped with 40 degree dive comfort either.

What do you need? I have a nice doubles manifold and 8" tank bands that I'm considering selling. The manifold is a Thermo (XS Scuba) 230 bar with isolator valve (same as this one but 230 instead of 200 bar http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.a ... ThermoDual )spatman wrote:not yet! need to some other bits and pieces together first...no excuses wrote:did you try out those twins???

Last time I did that place, I didn't rinse my gear either. It then cultured into a nice "hot garbage/public restroom" smell in my gear box. Yum.
60% of the time it works, every time...
