has anyone dove deception pass? if so, was it from a boat/beach?

I've never been, but I've heard it's a good dive.

Deception Pass is awesome from the surface! I'm betting it's an even more awesome dive... though the currents can really get ripping through here.

I'd love to do this dive someday...

I would only do it from a live boat on a day with very low exchange at slack, that should be a clear indication of how dangerous this site can be!! I love diving but safety should ALWAYS come first...

well, i have decided that i won't be diving deception pass on may 6/7. even with a one to two foot exchange the weakest current prediction i can find is still 3.5 knots. that is a bit stiff when coupled with the unpredictable nature of the flow in that area. i don't care to take on a merit dive just to say i did. just not worth the risk to say, "yeah, well, i dove deception".
