DING DING DING DING DING DING!!!! You are correct sir! (although, if you were snooping around my pics on Flickr you might have cheated...)

Spotted this little guy (actually, pretty good sized, maybe 8 or 9 inches long?) in large part aided by the nice viz, and followed him for at least 5 minutes in the shallows at the end of nice dive on the octo boat at 3TN!

Very Cool, John! Nice Pic!

Still looking for my first Gruntie...

Still lobbying Calvin for a NWDiveclub name change to Grunt Sculpin Divers... :smt064

Or... at least a change of Mascots!! We need to ditch that hoity toity orca on the club dive flag and replace it with a Grunt Sculpin! No one ever sees an orca while diving anyway, and we (me at least!) divers resemble Grunts more than we do Orcas! :supz: :rr: :salute:

OK, rub it in, Mr. "I finally saw a Grunt Sculpin on my last dive". But at least I stand a better chance of running into a Grunt Sculpin than I do an Orca!!

Hey, that was my 3rd grunt sculpin! I'd much prefer to run into a gruntie than an orca anyway.

It looks like a cantaloupe with an eye! Is that it?

C'mon, give us a hint at least!

Not a Kelp Greenling, male or female.

Not a small fish (as in warbonnet or ronquil sized)! (How's that for a hint?!)

Not a "rare" fish... fairly common at most PNW divesites.

Chaching! You got it! And a beaut, too... although you can't see the tail in this pic.... at least I hope it's a copper! Oooopppsss... Actually... on closer inspection this is a Brown Rockfish, not a Copper! #-o :axe: How embarassing! It is a beautiful and good sized brownie...

I didn't look close until I posted the pic. But since nobody had guessed brown, John still gets this one! My apol0gies... Now... back to work on sculpin ID... :book:
