Hello from Tracydr-

Post by Tracydr »

Hi, many of you may know me from other forums.
I used to dive in Puget Sound when I first started diving, 97-98, as I was stationed at Ft. Lewis for my internship about a year after I as certified.
I miss it very much and want to come back to dive it again one day.
Nice to meet everyone and hopefully I'll meet some of you in person one day.

Howdy Tracy ... and welcome to our local online dive club.

If you ever find yourself heading back to the Puget Sound region, please let me know ... I'd love to show you some of my favorite local mudholes ...

Thanks Bob! I will contact you if/when we get our weekend in Olympia some day.
I was saddened to hear about the low oxygen event and loss of life in Hood Canal. Octopus Hole was my favorite spot. Is it recovering?

Tracy I dove octo hole yesterday and counted no less than 8 octos and 3 wolf eel. No signs that I saw of any problems.

Low oxygen events occur in the summer, during periods of heavy plankton bloom and die-off. The canal is healthier during the colder months ...

So good to hear about the recovery of Octopus Hole!
I loved going down, getting a small crab and feeding it to the resident wolf eel. I'm sure I probably shouldn't have been doing that but at the time I was a new diver and didn't know any better. Love those wolf eel and octopi!
Trying to talk my husband into a trip next summer, hoping to stay either just on one of the bases in VOQ or maybe stay on one of the islands.
