Hello everyone, I am coming down from Ft. Lewis to Oregon City to visit family for the upcoming holidays. I was curious if anyone in the area had plans for making a dive in the next 2 weeks or so in that area.
I understand that most Oregon Divers come up to Tacoma for dives but I am sure there has to be someone like me out there that is interested in just diving for the sake of diving!
Hope to hear back from someone, and if not, hope you all have a Merry Christmass! and happy New Year!
Jesse

There is nothing to dive here in the Portland area other than a couple boring lakes. I wouldn't bother bringing the gear, honestly.

Oregon Scuba Club has a dive this weekend at Netarts Bay - it's a shallow, tide sensitive dive but it's a dive and you have the chance of seeing monkey face prickleback. You may want to contact someone on this post.
Cheers!

Sounds like it could have been fun but the weather is not cooperating for me to get out there... now that I know there is such a creature as a monkey face prickleback I must see one!!!!

Just remember that Netarts Bay is not exactly a local dive. The drive from Oregon City is like driving from Ft Lewis to Port Angeles ... about 2 hours.

There are monkey face pricklebacks all over at the coast. They are like the Oregon state underwater mascot.

I had no idea that they were this far north. Where abouts can they be found in Netarts? Along the inshore wall or the marina jetty?

Thank you very much! I now have another species that I can add to my list to look for.
