Northwest Dive Club

Found these two critters during a couple dives at Salt Creek on Saturday. The first was a very tiny nudibranch tucked away. I found this in about 15' of water on our way in. It almost looks like a baby Diamondback, but I am not 100% sure. Sorry the pic isn't better, surge was pushing me around a bit.



The second was a little "bug" right below a sculpin. It looks like it has a hard outside shell with blue dots. Look closely under the sculpin's gills.



The third was a snail looking creature. I have never seen/noticed one.



Any help with these critters is appreciated.

Only the third one I can ID as Rough Keyhole Limpet, Diodora aspera.
I tend to agree with your guess of juvenile Tritonia festiva, but don't bet on it.
The one with the Scalyhead, great photo of both critters, but I never seen one. Great shots !

Wow. Jan has never seen it. I suspect the "bug" is a flatworm. I don't have any better id.

Sorry bout that It was a last minute decision. BTW- I got buzzed by a stellar sea lion, scared the crap out of me. Mike was taking a photo of something small, so he didn't see it. Wish I would have brought the gopro

I see a lot of similarity between the "bug" and the limpet. Really zoomed in on the pic, and it looks like the shape of the soft underbody of the bug matches the shape of the soft body of the limpet. The bug also seems to have the little bumps around the edge of the shell, like the limpet does.

The "bug" does resemble the limpet. I bet it is a baby one.

I would confirm on the Tritonia, everything matches. Everything starts out small.

as for the "bug" I think it is some sort of snail like critter but unsure of what kind. I'm forwarding the pic to Dave Behrens to see if he knows.

Wow - the mystery is a Marginellid snail - likely a Granulina.

Very cool! One of these days I will find a critter I get to name

Good luck, I found one a couple of years ago that Dave was going to publish but he never got around to it. :(
