Newport, OR Labor Day weekend

I am headed down to Newport, OR over Labor Day weekend. A cousin is meeting me and we're diving the Oregon Coast Aquarium and also planning to get in some dive time at the Fingers of the Newport harbor. Hoping to snatch some crab and view some critters.
Anyone out there have some advice regarding OR coast diving? Looks like the community down there is less active than here, would like to find out a bit more. I did find some information on the shorediving site as well as the planyourdive but I always like to ask folks around here, you never steer me wrong.
If you're interested in a weekend excursion to join us, let me know, the more the merrier! Our family is staying at the Worldmark in Newport with some family just south of town. Plenty of camping in the area, and if we can help with getting another unit at the WM, let me know and I'll snag it if it comes up on the waitlist.
