The markings on that tail look familiar, but I can't seem to put it together. I'd like to ID the loser in this little encounter, and I'm hoping there's enough tail left showing for us to figure it out. On a side note: this was my first time actually seeing a fish in the process of eating another. Once I saw a little sculpin with a shrimp tail sticking out of its mouth, but that's as close as I've gotten until today. Curiously enough, both were at Titlow.
Viz was fantastic, though the current was a little impolite and didn't really follow the predictions. Kathy's last 3 dives there have been disastrous, so today we decided we were going to break the curse. With a 58 minute dive, I'd say we succeeded.
