The all-knowing Wikipedia says they live between 2,000 and 3,900 feet deep. Suffice to say my gas mixes don't let me go that deep...

It does. They don't have a swim bladder. Their doughy flesh is just slightly more positive than the water around them, letting them drift without requiring a swim bladder for buoyancy.GearHead wrote:The depth might explain their appearance.
