Tuesday afternoon at Redondo Kathy found this brown rockfish with another fish sticking out of its mouth. We've been looking at the pictures she managed to get - he was not in a mood to sit still - and trying to identify the losing fish. I've tentatively concluded that it's a sculpin of some kind, and based on the top-down shots I'm thinking sailfin sculpin. But I'd like to poll the group and see what other opinions there are. Here are the pix:

I couldn't decide between sailfin and roughback. Anybody else got an idea?

I vote roughback- first pic shows that somewhat oval (rather than round) eye shape that is characteristic of the species

My first thought based on the shape and positioning of the eyes was Roughback.
