FREE Fish and Invertebrate ID Classes in Sept 2007

Post by nwscubamom »

Thanks to a grant from the Russell Family Foundation, REEF is able to sponsor a series of 5 free Fish and Invertebrate ID classes throughout 2007 - 2008. Two of those will be the new Advanced Fish ID course. Tentative dates and locations for the classes are as follows, so you can plan ahead!

Sept 11th - Basic Fish ID Vancouver, WA
Sept 25th - Invertebrate ID Vancouver, WA

Nov 1st - Basic Fish ID Port Angeles, WA
Nov 2nd - Invertebrate ID Port Angeles, WA

Feb 2008 - Advanced Fish ID (and possible basic Fish ID) at the newly redesigned Redondo Marine Science Center Pier.

April 19th, 2008 - Basic Fish and Invertebrate ID, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Newport, OR

May 2008 - Advanced Fish ID - hopefully Seattle Aquarium

More information and link to online registration can be found here:
http://www.pnwscuba.com/critterwatchers/classes.htm

Hope this helps, and hope to see many of you there!

I'm ready for the advanced class at Redondo and Mrs. Sounder hopes to get to one of the basic classes soon!!

These are great - if you've never been to Janna's class, it's REALLY worth the time and effort.

Nope, no dives in the aquarium for that day! We'll be jam packed full with classroom all day long.

The aquarium class that includes dives is a pay class, not free, and includes half day instruction on fish and invertebrates, and then the dive in the exhibits after class. It's very different than the REEF courses.
More info on it here:
http://www.pnwscuba.com/classes/oregoncoastaquarium.htm

I think the September class is already completely booked up, so we're adding a December class.

Hmmm... November, Port Angeles, haven't gotten to dive out there yet, "honey I need to go for a class", or to support my buddy Sounder's wife as she takes hers, what you mean you can dive out here?, ....etc. etc. etc.

[Tom sits and quietly continues to talk himself into going to Port Angeles]

Hey, when are we going to get our "Janna Groupie Critter ID'er" T-Shirt? I can see the cool designs now!
