what compass do you all use?
what compass do you all use?
I've been using one with a built in retractor because I like holding it out at arm's length, but I've never been that happy with it because the card itself is pretty sticky and I don't love having things dangling. As for wrist-mounts I feel like I don't really have the flexibility in a drysuit to hold my arm as high as I would need to make a wrist mount effective, but I'm curious if anyone else has had good luck with them.
Re: what compass do you all use?
everyone I know uses wrist mounted compasses. Or on their hand with bungee

- I got a good squirt in my mouth
- I would imagine that there would be a large amount of involuntary gagging
- I don't know about you but I'm not into swallowing it

Hose-mounted near the SPG.
Wrist real estate is in short supply, with a computer, light and dry gloves already there. Retractors never quite live up to my expectations. What I really want is a HUD compass in my mask...

Re: what compass do you all use?
Recently started using a Teric wrist computer as my backup on the right wrist. It has a floating red pointer that moves around the circular display, and easy to set markers for a desired nav point. I like this much better than the nearly useless digital compass on my Petrel as I follow the compass while pointing my arm straight ahead in the direction of travel.

I use a Suunto SK8 on right hand. Between the dry glove rings and my T-rex arms that's the only place that works for me.
Re: what compass do you all use?
I use the Suunto on a bungee wrist mount. It’s more than just handy at several dive sites around the Sound. Edmonds, Mukilteo Edgewater Park, Redondo and other places where there isn’t a wall or definite slope to the bottom to assist with navigation.
