Desperately need Decorated Warbonnet photo!

Post by nwscubamom »

I am giving a presentation on Orcas Island next week (Marine Science Lecture Series) and need a photo of a Decorated Warbonnet! My photos of Decorated Warbonnets are all partial head shots and I'm looking for something that's a really nice head shot, with some or most of the body too.

No backscatter, good contrasting background, sharply in focus please!

You'd get fame, warm fuzzies, my deepest thanks, and photo credits in return :)

I have a hard time remembering which one is a decorated warbonnet and which one is a mosshead warbonnet.

It's interesting to note the difference in coloration and pattern between the three warbonnets shown in those pictures ... and Penelope, this is a mosshead warbonnet ...

I was going to suggest Bob's picture - I can't figure out how he talks the fish into posing so perfectly. :prayer:

Just a followup message - the presentation went great and we had TONS of people show up for it!! I used all of your photos - Jan, Penelope and Bob! Thank you again for the great shots.

The presentation was held in the marine education building of Camp Orkila and it's an awesome place with a gigantic fish tank below the projection screen, so you could watch rockfish swim lazily around when you got bored listening to me!

Much fun, and got in some diving off Bell Island (where we found some invasive tunicates and got rid of 'em)

Just found this thread... WONDERFUL! =D>

I just LOVE the coloration on these fish... to say nothing of their impressive headgear. Taking a close look at Jan and Bob's shots... same species, different location, the different shades in the coloration is just beautiful! Nice shot as well, Penelope!
