Something apparently interrupted this bat star in the middle of a meal. (It wasn't us, honest. We found him this way.) We've all heard that sea stars evert their stomachs to eat, but this was the first time we've actually seen one in that state. Found him at the pipeline in Monterey.

Very cool picture -- Thanks for putting it up. I've read that they do it, but had no idea what it actually looked like when they did.
