Fun thread: How long have you spent underwater?

Post by Sounder »

Just for fun, and to avoid studying for my "Managerial Accounting :vom: " midterm, I was adding up the amount of time I've spent underwater in terms of minutes/hours/days/weeks/years/etc. I determined that I have collectively spent just over 2 weeks underwater!! :smt119 That means I've been underwater long enough to have rafted the entire Grand Canyon, from Lake Powell to Lake Mead, TWICE!! \:D/

While 2 weeks is NOTHING compared to the time some folks have here :prayer: , it may seem like a lifetime to others! So I thought this would be a fun thread. =D>

How long have you spent underwater? Be creative! Example: "I've been underwater for over 1 year which is longer than my child/grandchild/dog/goldfish/whatever has been alive!" Another example: "I've been underwater for 2 days which is longer than the entire dive-around-the-clock!" Or: "I've been underwater for 2 years which is shorter than the time it took NWBrewer to finally get a drysuit!!" #-o

Like I said, be creative!! This isn't a competition, nor a thread for bragging, but rather it's just a fun way to share something creative with friends. I expect the "Yodas" to get really creative! I also hope the newbs will post fun stuff too like "I've now spent the equivalent an entire 8 hour shift underwater!" Have fun with it!!

So... How long have YOU been underwater?! :dontknow:

I've spent just about 4 1/2 days underwater, which is roughly how long you have to wait for them to call your number at the Motor Vehicles department in Boise so you can renew your car registration...

I've only spend 213 hours underwater....

It's fun to add this stuff up, which is one of the reasons to keep your log book current...

Which also adds the question, how the heck are you going to know if you don't log your dives?! :smt064

Yep. I stopped logging somewhere around 120 dives......I have no earthly idea how many dives I have, or how much time I've spent underwater.......I keep meaning to start again, but I just don't. Maybe I'll get a Sensus Pro and be done with it- Calvin has one, and they're pretty dang cool.

I'm certainly not adding up the minutes, I had to guess on that based on average length. I find depths/times and general conditions quite valuable when making future plans. Although I'm diving off my own (generally anchored) boat and that takes a bit more scoping than other approaches.

I've logged nearly 32 days underwater, the equivalent of the time I took off when I finished university in 1992 (went back to school). Was still living in Victoria, BC, and went on a road trip covering the whole western US. Sadly, it was in the Before Time; I'd love to do it again with dive gear in tow...

I've spent just one week underwater, which is more than the sum total of all vacation time I've taken since November 2006 (my last vacation). What the crap? That can't be healthy. I need to take some time off and pump up both of those numbers!

Mr. Bailey? Mr. Rawlings? I know you two are lurking out there in internet land... :smt024 Course, you both probably need some serious extra time to add things up and do the calculations.

What about other Yodas and other Newbs?!?!

I've got more time underwater, than I've spent in Jail. And far less than I've spent in Prison.

My computer does the adding, as long as I faithfully log my dives! \:D/ :smt024

That's funny! But only because I know the answer to the riddle!

I've spent about three weeks underwater, which is about how long it's going to be before I dive in Puget Sound again :)
