Teal Water Charters is shutting down

Post by Pinkpadigal »

I got a message today from Michael Block and Teal Water Charters is closing down. I didn't get to talk to Michael so I don't know all the details. His boat was very nice, comfortable and I have had great times on board. He will be missed.

That's really too bad. I liked him, and his boat. Hope it's not permanent.

Damn, between him, Porthole's problems, and the on-again, off-again sales of Deep Sea, we are really suffering in terms of local charters.

I wonder if it is related to the economy and fuel prices.

People, go support these operations. They're good to have around . . .

What is the status of Deep Sea?

That is a shame ... Michael is a first-class individual, and I really enjoyed going out on his boat.

I truly hope it's because a better opportunity came along for him ...

Don't know lately-I do know he had it almost sold last September and that fell through. Not sure if it is still for sale.

Teal Water is shutting down due to high fuel costs, and a raise of price of his insurance. I fell the fuel pain diesel is $5 a gallon at the street pump. :angryfire: Must be at least $6 at a marine pump. :angryfire:

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this. I've had several extremely enjoyable charters on his boat, which was beautifully appointed and very spacious.

Fuel costs are hitting us all.

I'm really sorry to hear about this turn of events. I've never dived off of Tealwater, but I understand why they're shutting down. Fuel costs are effecting everything we buy, and with the razor-thin margins that everyone in the dive industry operates under, it's no wonder.
