Lost divers fight off dragon

Post by amandacastleman »

A happy ending:

Three British divers who were swept away with two other Europeans during a dive off Indonesia have been found safe after managing to swim to a remote beach on an island 25 miles away.

The 36-hour ordeal saw them carried to the neighbouring island by strong currents while they waited for their dive boat to return.

Fearing their rescue might take days, the dive party began scavenging for shellfish to survive and were forced to use rocks to drive off a komodo dragon - one of the huge, aggressive lizards native to the area that are capable of killing humans.

see now I am going to have nightmares about big lizards eating people. Could you imagine waking up to a noise only to find that your friends was being swallowed by a huge lizard. I hear it is there saliva is what kills cause it has so many killer bacteria. well thats what I heard on the Discovery channel.

Yeah, imagine surviving that ordeal at sea, swimming 25 miles, then being menaced by potty-mouthed giant lizards... Not a good day.

At least the group had five people and could (presumably) sleep in shifts...

Arctic Diver: Where did you see a komodo?
