Instead of pointing fingers at struggling business owners who take advantage of newbie divers and charge full retail plus, we should doff our hats in respect and admiration for the dive shops that treat us right. This is an excellent forum to use to steer our friends to fairer grounds, where people who do not make minimum wage and know what they are doing provide great service.

I have been getting very reasonably priced Trimix and Deco bt fills from Tacoma Scuba for a couple of months now. He built his own tank tumbler, very cool setup. I get excellent regulator and tank service from the All in One Dive Shop on Pacific Ave at 85th St, all tank valves get a complete rebuild with vis inspection. They also have the cheapest air and nitrox that I have found, and have a very high quality compressor. These shops run weekly dives and dive with their customers. The owners run the shops and dive.

I regularly dive with Bandito charters. Rick runs a great boat, always a good time.

This is not an advertisement, I too have been taken advantage of by some local shops who saw me coming when I was a new diver. I would really like to have been able to mention some other shops in this message, maybe they will get the message.

Actually, I think most folks are pretty vocal about their favorite shops here. I see lots of positive comments.

As I said, my purpose in posting this thread wasn't to slam a business ... which is why I refused to name the business. My purpose was to tell people to not just accept everything the dive shop employee tells you at face value, and to use this particular incident as an example of why they should not do so.

It's easy to know who the good shops are ... just listen to what people are saying in here about the ones they visit. And I agree with you about Tacoma Scuba ... they've been my dive shop of choice for some time now.

Kirby and Bob,

THANKS FOR THE GOOD WORDS :supz:

MANY THANKS to all the divers that help me keep the shop open. =D>
What EVERY shop owner and employee MUST remember is, without the support of the local divers, there will be NO LOCAL DIVE SHOPS!
The shops have to treat there costumers right or they will go somewhere else.
The number one reason I opened Tacoma SCUBA was, I didn't like the way I got treated at the other shops!! :angryfire:

Just to let all you know, Tacoma SCUBA has a booth at the Puyallup fair again!! \:D/
The Fair is September 5th - 21st !!!
