Would you go?
Would you go?
Here's a spinoff of the Extended Rage topic.
Here's the question:
You're buddy is standing in front of you with tickets for a trip to Truk lagoon followed by a trip to Bikini Atoll. He's picking up the tab for the entire 2 week trip all you have to do is pack and dive. All of the planned dives are between 130' and 200' and not a single cubic foot of Helium is available. You can have all the Nitrox and O2 you want in any blend.
Do you refuse the trip and stay home or do you go?
As you probably expected, I'm going!

Re: Would you go?
I'm going ... what the hell ... I've done stupider things.
FWIW - I've been to 150 feet on EAN25, and didn't like it at all. I KNEW I was silly narced, and since it was my first dive to 150 I'd have been nervous even with helium.
On the other hand, you gotta weigh the risks and rewards ... and if somebody offered me that opportunity, it'd take me about a millisecond to think about it before I said "YES!" ...

Re: Would you go?
Of coures I'd go. But I'm not trained to go below 130'. So I guess I'm going to do different profiles.
Re: Would you go?
I would absolutely go. That would be a great time.

Re: Would you go?
Considering that my buds up in Victoria actually arranged for He at Truk, nobody actually has to live with the consequences of their decisions, and only Steding actually has a sugar mama, the question is a bit otherworldly

I am in although I would prefer to do my 40ft water stop pure O2 and do surface decompression.

I'm going, arranging for helium to be shipped in, and getting a good deal because all other expenses are paid.

It depends... is said buddy kevrumbo and is he insisting we use ratio deco? If so, I'd skip it... but I'd watch the forums for stories of his various niggles.Dmitchell wrote:You're buddy is standing in front of you with tickets for a trip to Truk lagoon followed by a trip to Bikini Atoll. I already went, but I couldn't get my darn buddy to pay for the trip (which wasn't cheap).Dmitchell wrote:Do you refuse the trip and stay home or do you go?
I would definitely go to Truk again. I didn't even really like wrecks until I spent a week there, and now that's mostly what I dive.

Well....last I heard Bikini was closed once the operator there couldn't make a go of it due to logistical problems.
But if he has figured a way for us to do it I'm In!
