I would also be interested to know if this is a possible dive site.

Since it is near the outfall of the Columbia River the vis is usually pretty bad. You need to wait till July and then watch the ocean conditions for a dive out there. The Barview Jetty is a better dive.

I knew I could find the answers here! Thanks, that is what I expected but just wanted to know... what is out there? Sandy bottom? Have you been over towards the cove?

Is there any decent diving at Willipa Bay or Grays Harbor?

I know thats Washington and we are speaking here in a Oregon forum :) but its just a tad closer for me then Puget Sound.
(And I have reletives in Astoria that I can visit or stay with if I wander over that way)

If I remember isn't Indian Cove a great surfing spot too? A bit of haul to get equipment down to the beach?

Bob!
Have you dove at Ecola State Park?
I would love to learn more about this.

I found this PDF map of the park
http://www.oregonstateparks.org/images/ ... la_map.pdf

Its been a couple decades since I moved away from the coast -- It did seem like the parking lot was a far away but on this map it doesn't look that bad.

I grew up in Ilwaco and i was born in Astoria. I never had a dive there but I'm betting it would be nice to get some of us together and check it out. I also i want to check out the deadmans cove where i used to play as a kid. It looks really cool.

I'm bringing this thread back to life to see if there's any interest or experience here. I would like to check out some spots on the coast like cape disappointment.

I am very interested in an Oregon Coast boat dive. Weekends are usually the best for me (except this weekend I'm in Canada :)), but I could make most any day work if needed. If you are putting something together please let me know.

I would love to go, and funkydiver might come too. We are booked until first or second weekend in June (how the hell did that happen!?!?). I would love to do a boat dive if we could find a charter...but I am fine with a shore dive as well.

I know y'all can't plan around MY schedule...so I will just keep watching the board and see if something gets set up for June. :)

Cape Lookout or the Newport Reef. I should have room for two divers on the boat.

Fried chicken or a Pastrami sandwich will get you on for sure!!!!! :) :burntchef:

Save my spot Stan. You know I'm in. I wish the ocean (and your sinuses) had cooperated the other weekend. That's a dive I'm excited for :taco: .Two boats maybe?

May 7th, this Friday may have a window of diving for the Oregon coast. Going to head out of Newport....
I have room for one more experienced diver.
