I live right next to the UW and University Village, I wouldn't foresee having a problem picking you up on the way to a dive site. I'm planning on diving three tree next wednesday night.

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?
Maybe it's because I packed planning on doing laundry, but I packed 2 bags. My thing with shipping was I wanted to use it up until the start of the trip. I think what I'll do instead is get a second set of gear and purchase a locker down there. Carry on: backplate, wing, Can light, primary reel, reg...

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?
Yeah, I had a lot more trouble going in than out with the reel in the flow. Except the one time I didn't get negative enough before where the flow restricts on the exit... Next time I'll be using bigger tanks as well, I was only using 95's. I wish I could go this winter, but I won't have enough vaca...

2 - AL 80's, $50 each
Anyone need some AL 80's? I need to get rid of 2 of my 3. Catalina original hydro '88, current Hydro '10. Luxfer original Hydro '05, current hydro '10. Both need viz, looking to get $50 a piece. I have too many tanks, not enough space, and the AL80's have pretty much been sitting since hydro.

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?
Apprentice went really smoothly. It didn't seem like that much more in difficulty, just a few more drills and a dive instructor trying to get you to go the wrong way to make sure you were paying attention on the way in! Devils cave system was a blast! The exit was hell when you are the reel man some...

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?
A mini trip report/update for you kitsapdiver, basic cave was passed today. Tomorrow my dive buddy and I are doing some experience dives at peacock, then back to the grind thursday starting on my apprentice. Honestly, this is the most fun I have ever had diving! Already started glancing at jobs over...

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?
So far my experience has been awesome with Jim. He is a very excellent instructor, and one of the best I've ever had so far., especially out of my instructors I've had in florida (i was certified in pensacola florida in '02, ow, adv, and nitrox). Scott would be the other instructor I've dealt with t...

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?
I'm down here taking classes from Jim Wyatt, as reccomended by a lot of folks. I'm only going through apprentice, and will be back by next spring to finish up through full cave if my schedule allows.

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?
Thank you guys for the advice. I wound up putting my drysuit, fins and clothes in checked luggage which came to 35lbs leaving me room for a wet drysuit on the way back. And backplate and everything else in my carry on. I even got the nice TSA lady at the scanner that got all excited about the 20amp/...

Re: Want To Buy 2x 100 HP Tanks
PST's are the narrow necks. Hang on to that manifold! They are nearly impossible to get now, so you'll need it if you double them later in life. Cap the valves, or if you want them both on the same side, northeast scuba supply still had some Left and right manifold valves, or some of us on here migh...

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?
Thank you guys for the suggestions! I think I'll be meshing what CaptnJack and LCF mentioned. I'll get a Costco luggage or from Ross and check my drysuit and such. I'll get a proper sized carry-on and see what all I can cram in it. Hopefully I remember to remove my little knife off of the waist belt...

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?
I'm diving Saturday in the lake for fun and maybe some skills, and next week I might be able to actually dive midweek once or twice since I supposedly start a credit/no credit clinical rotation so I should be able to squeeze a couple mid-week dives in. I'll send you my contact info, I don't have a s...

Re: How do you pack your gear for vacation?
Yeah, from what I was being told it will be a lot more expensive to ship it and I'll be diving like a mad man from graduation till a couple days before leaving (just enough to get the suit dry). So if anyone is wanting to dive for a couple days straight working on skills let me know.

High Springs, FL for cavern through basic cave, and 3 days of guided dives at apprentice level, or continue on to apprentice if all is well. Hopefully I'll be doing a lot more skill oriented dives between now and june to finish all the little details of fine tuning...

How do you pack your gear for vacation?
Ok, so the last couple times I traveled with scuba gear it required throwing it in a sea bag and boarding a ship... I've never flew with a whole kit of gear beyond snorkel gear and renting the rest when I got there. I have some classes rescheduled from last year (due to my knee injury last year) to ...

Re: Another lesson learned today
Yep, I remember when I took my nitrox class the 120' range on nitrox was the norm, 132' was the MOD we put on the tanks. I don't do it as often anymore, but occasionally I am guilty of a ppo2 1.5 since I started diving nitrox again. I was actually caught off guard when I started diving again and the...

Re: Steel 72's... what are they good for?
I use mine for recreational dives. As doubles they work great as long as you know a place to get them filled to 3k psi. They do require me to add about 5lbs more than I carry with my double pst 100's. But I can get 2 to 3 recreational dives on a set.

Congats on the light purchase, I'm sure you'll love it. I know my Light Monkey 35watt HID was one of the best dive gear purchases I've ever made.

Are you getting tired of that little light? :P I'm sure there is a way to strip it and machine another housing. Or if the dimensions were actually provided you could see if you could modify a different light to fit it. The next question is what is the beam focus and the dimensions? It looks like a r...

Re: Diving with Contacts
I dive with them sometimes, sometimes I don't. Mainly because I don't have that bad of vision in the first place. But I've never had a problem with using them underwater. I've completely flooded my mask with them in with my eyes open and they were still there when the dive was over.

Dive Monkey's 100th dive! 3/4/2011
Yesterday was Dive Monkey's 100th dive! :partyman: :supz: I've been diving with him for the majority of his last 70 to 80 dives and it's been pretty awesome to watch how much he has improved over that time. His trim has improved 10 fold! His frog kick and turning kicks are fairly tuned now. So last ...
