Re: my latest passion ... sidemount diving

As I'm finding out right now, what works in nice, warm water with minimal exposure gear and no gloves is more difficult with the heavier undergarment and drygloves. It's going to take some getting used to ... but that's why we practice. ... Bob (Grateful Diver) This is the truth, alot harder to fin...

Re: my latest passion ... sidemount diving

I am planning on putting together another rig for Mx. A razor type harness, and a small UTD wing. I dove with a guy using the Z system and liked it except for the whole tank manifold thing. The harness/wing was nice and small/ slimline perfect for AL tanks.

Re: Akumal 2011

Lynne, We didn't have any problems. They actually closed one of the other roads into Minotauro because people were going in without paying. Don't know if that helped with the problem. At Mayan Blue we had some swimmers there, and had no problem either. So far I have never had a problem down there. K...

Re: my latest passion ... sidemount diving

Bob, I too took SM from Rob in Marianna, and did a week of dives following the class. Bozel is an awesome cave always saved for last. I now dive exclusively in SM cave or OW. The Nomad is my rig of choice, but I just got back from Mx and thought the lift was overkill for Aluminum tanks. That being s...

Akumal 2011

Trip Report Akumal June 2011 I just got back from 2 weeks of cave diving in the Akumal/Tulum area. I was lucky enough to dive 7 different cave systems, and a total of 9 different cenotes. This was my first sidemount experience in aluminum tanks. Having done all my sidemount up to this point in steel...

Great video, that's another in a long list of cenotes I still want to dive. I'll be down there again in June. Can't wait! :partydance:

Re: Are you a certified cave diver and in Portland?

I am, but I live in the OC. so not actually Portland, but close. I too go to Mexico at least once a year. Florida is also nice. Unfortunately it is hard to become a good cave diver when we live so far from caves.

Re: Paulina Lake diving....

I have never dove Paulina, but it is often not free of ice until mid/late June. The lake is at 6300' I think. I do dive Waldo lake which has superb viz in the summer. 80-100' some days. Also at 5500' elevation. Make sure your computer is adjusted for that.
