Halcyon Proteus 3 Canister light
Hello! I am selling a 10w Halcyon Proteus 3 canister light. It has recently changed bulb and battery. comes with charger too! It is a great light, and can get a super tight 6 degree beam angle. It entirely focusable though, and you can get whichever angle best suits you and the type of diving you do...

Would anyone who is doubles-savvy be available on the first dive to mentor me? I will be in doubles for the first time. Kees will be there on the second dive to relieve you.

Re: Tech education in the NW
I did indeed pass! I got a rec pass, and my next goal is a tech pass. Hopefully over summer I will be able to train with the GUE community up here and get up to shape! My first step will be to get a drysuit... but that sadly requires money... so we'll see. Let me know if you would ever like to go di...

Re: Tech education in the NW
Update: I have since taken GUE fundementals. I would like to clearly state that when I started this thread I was confident that I was ready for technical diving. As it turns out, there is much more to diving than feeling confident because "master" is in the title of your highest certificat...

Weight Belts and Rescue Diving
I have a question regarding techniques used while rescuing an unconscious diver who is found on the bottom at a reasonable depth (lets say 60' for this scenario). I was doing some pool training with an AAUS instructor today (part of my training as a scientific diver for my college) and he said that ...

UPDATE
Okay, after some more reading I think its fair to conclude that the iridescence is due to the iridophores. Why? Put simply, they reflect light... and I don't think their name is at all a coincidence with their iridescent qualities. I didn't have luck finding a specific molecule inside the iridophore...

Re: Great Deal!
I just ordered one for my side mount rig from DRIS and I talked to them about the BP1 reg that they are offering at $119.00. They told me that it is not environmentally sealed so should not be used for cold water however they are offering the D1 first at $119 also which is sealed and makes for an a...

Re: Dry suits... What do you dive?
How does the tech skin compare with the flexibility of the sport vs. the durability of the bullet? I would have to say, I am torn! (no pun intended), because I truly find myself desiring the "ruggedness"... but if there is little gain in durability of the bullet compared to the massive gai...

Re: Dry suits... What do you dive?
Once again, thank you everyone for the input. I was browsing DRIS, and I just made a discovery... the dry core of white skins are all the same... correct? Because if this is true... for the price of a whites fusion bullet (1899.99) http://www.diverightinscuba.com/catalog/drysuitsundiesdrysuits-white...

Re: Dry suits... What do you dive?
Thanks for the responses guys.
One of the big questions I have also been wondering:
What are the difference between the fusion dry suits, the only real ones I see are the zipper and pocket placements... and the bullet is supposed to be much stronger.

Dry suits... What do you dive?
Hello everybody! I am finding more and more that my 7mm wetsuit is not ideal for diving up here. Not that it stops me! As I have begun diving more frequently, the thought of a dry suit has crossed my mind more than once. I want to know: 1. What do YOU dive? (dry suit and undergarments) 2. Why do you...

Re: Octopus leucophores?
This thread is great! I am so happy that the 200+ page dissertation on the epidermis tissue in E. Doffleini I picked up tonight would actually come in handy! Now, this was written in the 70's, but from what I can tell, the iridescent "blue" coloration is a result of the iridiphores. Koos, ...

Adjusting Your BP/W Harness
Hi Guys, I am a newbie when it comes to BP/W setups. I recently got a used Halcyon cinch, and I have some questions about general BP/W configuration, specifically about the harness. I dive with a 7mm farmer john, so I realize that my wetsuit compresses considerably during my decent. I am curious abo...

Hey guys,
I am thinking about taking some entry level courses for tech, and I was curious which educators/organizations/facilities you had experience with... and most importantly if you had any recommendations.
Thanks!
