Re: Dive buddy 8/30 Cove 2 8a
I didn't but my new dive buddy passed his certification this weekend so we did two dives today. I'm going to try to get out there more now but this week I'll be defending my dissertation!

Dive buddy 8/30 Cove 2 8a
Looking for a dive buddy to do a quick check-out dive since I haven't been in the water in.... well let's just not go there. Timing is to get there ~8a, do a dive briefing and get geared up, splash, check out the gear and make sure everything is functioning correctly, maybe do a few skill checks, an...

Re: Stolen Gear
My husband unloaded the gear into our carport (open to a back alley) to run a quick errand, and it was gone when he got back. Some of it was my gear he was using

Re: Dive Shop Bluefield—a shop to avoid in Okinawa, Japan.
I doubt I'll be going back to Okinawa anytime soon, but thanks :) I was certified in Okinawa when I was in the Marine Corps in 1991.. If I remember correctly there is some pretty good shore diving around the island. Here's a thread on SB I'm subscribed to - Maybe you could get ahold of the original ...

Dive Shop Bluefield—a shop to avoid in Okinawa, Japan.
Just thought I’d share my experiences with this dive shop located in Okinawa, Japan, for anyone considering which shop to go with for their excursions. First, I want to explain that I was with a very large group---three boats, in fact, were needed to accommodate all the divers from the conference I ...

Re: Diving before Flying
Haha, I have no idea. All I got was a confirmation for "Excursion 4: 1-Day Boat Dive Kerama Islands". The conference is setting up the excursions and I couldn't go to Okinawa without diving. Actually, the guy requesting my info signed off as "Hidetoshi Kashiwabuchi, Dive Shop Blue Fie...

Diving before Flying
I'm supposed to be diving in Okinawa and the dive shop set up the day's dives to be on June 28th. My flight leaves June 29th at 12:20p. I contacted them about the 24 hour requirement to fly (this is a conference and I assume most people going on the dive will also be leaving on the 29th). Their repl...

Re: Outrageous Deal on Camera and Housing
Would this camera be able to take landscape photos that could potentially be printed very large... say, something like 20"x30" panoramic? I was thinking I'd have to get an SLR for that, which would be sometime down the very long road...

Re: A wing ding deal for new BP/W wannabes
Rachel, I have a DSS 49 lb doubles wing you can try out. Won't work well for singles, but it works great for doubles. If you like it, I'll cut you a deal on it. I don't see myself ever diving back-mount doubles again. That said, if your primary goal is to get the weight off your hips, a DUI Weight-...

Re: A wing ding deal for new BP/W wannabes
Okay, I thought I remembered you saying it was 85s or 100s. I'm no wing expert, but 58 lbs feels like an awful lot of lift for those tanks. I use a Hollis 60 lb wing, and thats sufficient for large steel doubles (130s) and as many stage/deco bottles as you can throw on there. Hm, may have to try my...

Re: A wing ding deal for new BP/W wannabes
Dang it, my last post disappeared! Anyways, my primary reason for doubles is to take the weight off my waist, and to do shallow dives to the mukilteo oil dock, and then dive the area (this is my most common dive). I have a singles rig right now but my husband's wing burst, so he needs a singles wing...

Re: A wing ding deal for new BP/W wannabes
Kinda looks like the spork of wings... can't use it the eat steak (37# of lift, too little for steel doubles in these waters) and you can't use it to eat soup (too wide/sloppy for singles). It looks like a good wing for double Al80's in a wetsuit. Yeah, after looking at the wing, I'd have to agree ...
