Re: Scuba divers left behind in Florida
Afterward, they told us that other divers on board were anxious to get going. So when another dive charter showed up, they asked them to pick us up and left. Wierd. As a boat captain, I would never do that but it is probably no big deal. -Curt Curt couple of questions: 1) Did the other boat captain...

Re: Repetitive Diving - Safety
Nitrox won't be an expensive habit if you buy an all-you-can-eat fill card. With as many dives as you are doing that would be much cheaper than buying air fills one at a time. "Nitrox from Bob" = 2x win. We offer "all you can breath monthly nitrox". We have a few different optio...

Re: SI Tech vs Viking ring systems?
If you use cuff rings many of us are using "Best 55" rubber gloves. You can buy them at Work n More or just about any other work wear shop for around $6. Just cut them down to a length that works for you. They are very hearty and still give great dexterity. http://www.showabestglove.com/si...

Si Tech has the same rings as Viking. They call them Cuffs DUI calls them the SI-5. These are nice as you can just stretch a $6 rubber glove over them.

They are all good down their. If you swing into any of the shops they have a the local dive maps available that are great and show all the dive sites. If they are up in the Santa Cruz area Aqua Safari is a great shop and good people.

When did you dive it? I have done it myself several times have some friends who have not and want to so trying to fill out a boat. I have always felt the Governor was one of our best deep wreck dives in the sound myself. That is if you have scooters and spend a good amount of time to see as much as...

I get so much pain relief from diving I often wonder if I should find a full time dive Job somewhere.
But 20+ years working as an aircraft mechanic has it's benefits. Some too good to give up.
Great article, thanks Josh!

I wonder why do they use heliox? What about High-pressure nervous syndrome? No nitrogen, you do not get tired as fast for one thing. And the standards are set up to keep things easier you are only dealing with 2 gasses that have to be maintained over a long period. As for HPNS you get that on the f...

I know a several union guys out of CA that are over there pulling cars and boats up. Most of it is going to be left for artificial reef structure. That is not going to impede navigation. They are garbing certain things at the request of the local government if they come across it.

You can make 2 of them for under $10. Fry's carries maglight snap mounts for around $3.50 for 2. Cut two pieces of plastic and bolt the mounts to them. Then put either put 4 holes in it for surgical tubing or slot it for elastic band. Or you can get some 1" aluminum flat bar from Home Depot and...

What backgas was being used there at 174 fsw? My guess knowing Kirby 174 would usually be air, Phil can you verify that one for us. That would be a good one for others to know. minimal undergarment, no hood, no gloves for most dives Wow -- what time of year did you go? In all my LA trips, I've NEVER even considered going without a hood, or even without gloves! (Water temps below about 20 feet have always been no better than the 50's, and sometimes into the 40's deep.) Yea...

You have to make it to Farnsworth bank. It is a great dive, covered in Purple coral. It is on the west side of the Islands, a open pacific ocean dive. Sail rock is another polynomial dive. And a stop at the oil rigs for a dive with the sea-lions. You'll do all of these things on the Nautilus route:...

I like to dive off the Sand Dollar out of San Pedro, George runs the boat 24hrs a day, especially during lobster season. His policy is "the boat is yours and the gates never close" so you can do as many dives as you like and they will move the boat at any time day or night at your request....

Re: Clear Lake, Oregon, Trip
could be a interesting dive with the freezing level dropping down to the altitude of the lake. their will at least be snow on the ground more than likely hard to say if the road will be open or not. You had better check the snow pack. or wait a while until the freezing level goes up later in the year.
