The site looks good Rich. Margaret and I are taking our lights to dive a hydrothermal vent in Iceland in late August. Will try to get a photo with both our lights at the top of the vent. It is supposed to be the only hydrothermal vent in the world within recreational limits.

If you took your brains and stuffed them up a gnat's ass they would look like a BB in a box car.

Re: Exciting dives
Currently planning a family trip to Iceland in late August to dive Strytan hydrothermal vent, do some sight seeing, and maybe dive the Silfra rift too. Am booked on a 10 day liveaboard in late Oct/Nov that goes from the north end of the Sea of Cortez to the south end, ending at Cabo San Lucas. Would...

Saw a couple of these at Alki Pipeline last weekend. Both were sitting on plants like this one. Are they anemone?

Had a fun dive at Cove 2 on Sunday, 1/12. Caught a nudi doing a pig impersonation and also found a golf ball crab.

We did a nice dive at Pt Hudson yesterday afternoon and I got a couple shots of sculpins I cannot clearly ID from my books. Are these both scaly head sculpins?

Re: WTB: tanks, primary light
I will second the recommendation for a Dusty's light. Both my wife and I have one - excellent quality and half the price of retail. You can contact him through this forum - Dusty2. If you order one now you could meet him in Pt. Townsend on the weekend of the 23rd and he will also give you an awesome...

Re: Rinsing gear.
If you rinse right after a dive, I do not think it makes any difference on your gear if you use warm or cold water. Warm water dissolved things faster, but if you do not let your gear dry before rinsing, there is really nothing to dissolve and either should work about the same. Rinsing with either s...

I shot this guy curled up in the hoof of the carousel horse at Redondo last weekend. Can someone tell me what the owner of the tendrils is?

Jen - I don't have direct experience, but the mirrorless look like a good alternative to the DSLR and the package is a lot smaller. I found this review interesting: http://www.uwphotographyguide.com/sony-rx100-review I was on a trip last Feb and one of the people is a published DSLR guy.He recommend...

Re: Dusty's Light
I bought a can light about 3 years ago from a different local supplier (not the Doctor). Failed after about 250 dives due to really cheap parts used in the production. Was waiting for it to die so I could replace it with a Dusty's light. Now my light is as good as my wife's (she has had a Dusty's li...

Re: Two Years and Progress Continues.
I have been diving from La Paz, Cabo Pulmo, and Loreto. It is true that you dive from a panga, but the ones in La Paz and Loreto are large pangas. Only Cabo Pulmo had a panga driven from the rear of the boat. All the dive boats I have been on have ladders and were not difficult to use. All boats I'v...

Re: Two Years and Progress Continues.
I would second Baja. Flights can be broken up. 2.5 hr from Seattle to LA, then less than 2 hr to Loreto after a layover. Boat rides in Loreto are also fairly short. Boat rides in La Paz are about an hour or more. I think flights to La Paz by Alaska have been discontinued. Loreto water will be around...

Re: Currents in Mexico - Cabo San Lucas
Recommend you consider a drive or ride over to Cabo Pulmo and book with the PADI shop there. Really nice dive sites and the operators know what they are doing. Current has not been an issue at the sites they have taken me. It is also interesting to watch them launch the boats into the surf with a pi...

Re: Greetings
Welcome to the club. You can get buddies and lots of info on this forum. There is additional good information on dive sites available on theperfectdive.com and on planyourdive.com. Most people dive drysuits here. Wetsuits are usually 7 mm. A good light is another tool needed on most dives. I also di...

Re: Anyone up for heading out this weekend?
I am up for diving this weekend, if you don't mind diving with an old guy. Usually dive with wife and/ordaughters, but they cannot go this weekend and other regular dive buddies have not been available for a couple weekends now. Could do Muk, Edmonds, Cove 2 or head down to Redondo. Site probably de...
