I know these sell new for quite a bit more than you are asking. But you might need to drop your price a bit more, there's a used one on AH for $800 right now.

Re: seattle area dive question
Alki pipeline is pretty easy access, be sure to have a compass to find the outer section. Better at mid-to high tides.
Access to 100ft rock has been closed a decade+ now, so there aren't any shore accessible sites from downtown until you get to Edmonds.

Not sure how many of you all might be interested, but the science unit here at King County has an entry level position open right now. I encourage qualified applicants to apply. No diving involved in case you are wondering, there may be opportunities to help out with salmon reed snorkel surveys occa...

Re: Where would you retire in the USA to live and Dive?
Puerto Rico is a US territory, relatively inexpensive and is a couple of hour plane flight to the mainland if the need arises. I've heard mixed reviews on the diving but at least the water is warm ;-) jeff kruse and his wife lived in PR for a few years (maybe he will see this). The PR culture drove...

Re: Where would you retire in the USA to live and Dive?
If I was to retire in warmer water locales, I'd like to go to cave county in Florida. Fairly cheap and those caves are incredible (well at least the caverns and sinks that I've been in) and the fresh water is so much nicer on gear, but the heat is another thing..... LOL! Heat, mosquitoes, and idiot...

Its all boat diving, and you have to go a long ways out to get to anything. So its heavily weather dependent. And chartering a boat is both seasonal and expensive.JJHACK wrote: I have to see what the diving is like on the texas coast south of Houston.

except the dive season is about 4 or 5 months long, most require a boat to access, and the other 7 months out of the year you need a snowblower....Jeff Pack wrote:I would move into the great lakes area, and dive all the wrecks.

the predix is a nearly new model, its functionally the same as a petrel however. So you will typically find the slightly older petrels on sale used but not a used predix. from oldest and cheapest to the latest... predator is the original model, and takes only a lithium battery a petrel 1 is smaller,...

Sound Dive in Bremerton has a hydro facility. (but they are expensive and sometimes I question their knowledge about + ratings)

Fire King in Seattle will hydro, clean, and refill for you.
Tacoma scuba would be my next suggestion, but they don't have an in-house hydro facility.

Used petrel would be my vote despite the ~$350 used price tag. The predator is fine too but only takes the more expensive lithium batteries.

From a practical perspective you need Good scooters a backup scooter doubles plus a stage and a deco bottle a safety boat site knowledge and not just be being chauffeured out there in a charter and dropped a willingness for everyone to take time off from work to dive it on the perfect day, not a &qu...

The people who have actually done it (many years ago) had a safety boat, which kinda defeats the point.
Not trying to be dickish but, if you have to ask here then you are not ready to try and plan this dive.

You can build a fixed flow one yourself cheap from medical supply houses and/or ebay. Bottle, reg and nonrebreather mask for <$200
The DAN demand mask does not seem to be sold anywhere else unfortunately.

I have 17 years of diving from anchored and unanchored boats in Puget Sound. We don't use strobes. Here's the three types of dives we do from least to most complicated. Recreational site or modest deco, modest to no current. Swim and maintain spatial reference to the rough area where you anchored (e...

Don't like consoles as they are bulky, usually drag low, and get in the way of being on top of your buoyancy midwater (its hard to be checking them and venting or adding at the same time). Lastly once you know your consumption you only need to double check it on the spg every 5 to 10 mins anyway whe...

Lithium basically doubles your costs but doesn't upgrade the motor or get you anymore speed, just longer runtime. The rest of us are going further and taking less time to get there lolmonk wrote:I will also research the Lithium option.

Are those minimum temps? Puget Sound is not a uniform temp, especially in summer... I think you might have a flawed temp sensor actually.
