If you're challenged with a +10, the rest of us might as well just pack it in! ;-) Very cool shots!

Re: Puget Sound in the Spring
We were noticing what seemed to be more barnacles than normal (maybe we're just seeing things though) covering any structure locally, but any chance less sea stars = more barnacles?

Re: New macro lens
Thanks Bob, I had a strobe on the Lion's Mane, but it just wouldn't have made any difference with the big chunks of snot in the water column.

Redondo - 0930 Sunday. Low tide. Once down below about 30' viz opens up nicely to about 20' and the jellies are making the return.

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Three Tree - 0900 Saturday, low tide. Lots of snot in the shallows, but a very nice 30' viz down to 70'. No lights needed today.

New macro lens
Finally got around to picking up a new +5 macro for my RX100 and had a chance to try it last week at Pinacle off Down Time (awesome boat). Unfortunately, the water was really chunky or else the Lion's Mane would have come out better. Down_Time-02165.jpg Down_Time-02296.jpg Down_Time-02189.jp...

Re: Dry Glove Liners
I've had really good luck with a set of wool gloves with Thinsulate liners I found at REI. They are certainly warmer than my previous pair of polartech gloves I used earlier and seem to keep warm even when a bit wet and don't seem too bulky under my rubber gauntlet gloves I wear over the SiTech ring...

Sund Rock
This afternoon, a nice goopy 3' down to about 10' then opened up nicely to about 20' below 30 fsw or so. The deeper the better.

Re: Input Regarding Dive Lights Requested
DRIS is now making a soft handle for the 1K shorty http://www.diverightinscuba.com/catalog/lightsrecreationallights-drisdivegear-1kshortygoodmanhandle-p-3915.html A Dusty's in my purchase list for sure, but in the mean time, I'm using a DRIS 1000 and the DRIS shorty and they both work very well even...

Re: Sea star die-off
Not sure if this is just wishful thinking, but in the nasty viz that was Cove 2 Sunday AM, we did see what I thought were two Morning Sun Stars, each about 6" across. Unfortunately, since we were doing a class, no pics. These were the first sun stars I've seen at Cove 2 in months. Also happened...

Re: Sea star die-off
If I'm not mistaken, we saw two small sea stars at Cove 2 today, both about 6" across which is a positive change from the last several months. No pics since we were doing a class, and since there were no pics, the smallish GPO resting in the open in about 10 FSW near the north end of the beach ...

Re: St. Lucia
All boat dives off the west side. The diving at the Pitons was by far the best, general decent reef condition but a lack of the bigger fish.

St. Lucia
Got to escape the NW and head to St. Lucia for a week in the sun and warmth! Some sites had some marginal viz due to rains but other sites were stellar! Good to get away and dive in 80F water for a change...but it's good to get back to the local water for sure! Here's some photos from the diving tak...

Wide Angle in the Hood
So my wife got me a new wide angle for my Sony RX100 and I figured I'd give it a try out at Octopus Hole on Friday. I'm suffering through only one YS-D1 strobe, so a second is on the list.. For a first time over at the Hood, it was nice to see the sunstar population still healthy.

Re: Octos
Not at all, I use the SP S600 for primary so I'm keeping that. The Oceanic is the Alpha 9 Octo version, vs. their straight Alpha 9 so I may just need to do the comparison.

Octos
I have an Oceanic Alpha 9 Octo with the SP MK25 1st stage. Sitting around, I also have an old Sherwood Magnum that can't pass the bench check on the 1st stage due to some old service bulletin and parts availability. If the 2nd stage would pass a bench check, would it be beneficial to swap out the Oc...

Yep, off 405, go east through 2 lights and it is/was on the right, half way up the hill all of .5 miles of 405 and about 2 blocks from UWS - Bellevue.

Re: Wetsuit help
Northwest Dive Institute on NE 8th in Bellevue had some really nice deals on 3mm Cressi suits, but you'd need to call to see what they had left. I used one down in Turks and Caicos last April and it was just right.

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Not sure if this was a fluke or not, but Edmonds was probably 10-15' close to shore then 20+ out at the pontoon this morning on a 7' ebb tide. Awesome!
