Three Tree Nov 29

Post by YellowEye »

Hi
A small group of us had a run of dives at Three Tree yesterday. Not quite the initial 2, 4, 6, 8 that we originally hoped but fun nonetheless. And beer after :)

One of the highlights of the last dive was a couple of opal squid swimming around near a nest of eggs. The nest was still very small. I suspect we could have some exciting nesting activity of the next couple of nights! We didn't actually see any nesting activity but the two squid (initially at different locations), did have a brief rendezvous of checking each other out.

The nest was in about 45 feet of water, I'd guess fairly straight out from the antler house, on what looks like a broken off old float.

Here's one of the pics, I'll try to upload more when I get a chance.

Great dives!

The conditions were beautiful... Jeff and I had 40' plus viz on our first dive.

Maybe I'll post a pic or two, but no promises.

Had to be quick on the trigger for that shot! What a cool experience. I have not seen the opalescent quids near eggs yet. Some day...

Fabulous squid pictures! They are among my favorite animals to encounter. I love it when they swim up and look in your mask -- I swear you can see the intelligence behind their eyes.

The funnest part of the dive was watching the Squid interact with Yelloweye's camera. At one point, I think it wanted to mate or fight!
