I am back from the Birthday party and the video is now posted and can be found on my Vimeo page - Great Viz at Three Tree Video it isn't close to what LJ is posting on her video viz reports, but, I try.

Sorry, Bob...you lost on that one. I haven't seen Alki that good in a long time...dang near "tropical." Made for some killer scootering around, though your students certainly got away easy on their nav dives.

Was planning on cove 2 instead of 3 this morning, but with the tides as bad as they are, every class from Tacoma to Everett looked like they invaded coves 1 and 2. No parking anywhere along there.

Very nice diving at Lobster Shop Wall and Les Davis this afternoon. At least 20 to 25 feet at LSW, and the viz was pretty good even in the shallows. There was a bit of surface stuff and halocline at Les Davis, but viz at depth was very good, except for the krill or whatever they were that came up in clouds from all the structure.

None of the good visibility at Port Hadlock. Dove the Orca and Alaskan Reefer - murky, "warm 54F" about 12 feet vis with lots and lots of particles in water.... :crybaby:

50 foot viz at Redondo last night. Could see all the structures, no need for a compass at all, or even a light, for that matter. Amazing.

We splashed at 4:35 on the Murph in Quartermaster Harbor - current about 1.5, viz maybe 15 feet when the kelp wasn't blowing in front of us as we cruised around the main deck.

Maury Island Boulder field and Barges were amazing. Splashed at 6 pm. or so with amazing viz..we think horizontal viz at least 60 feet most likely 70. About mid flood, and I could see up the pilings from the sand to the surface. And there were black rockfish! Woot!

Horizontal viz at Cove 2 this afternoon was at least 50 feet. At 105 feet, I rolled over on my back and watched the sunlight reflecting off the ripples on the surface. I spent a good part of the dive more than ten feet off the bottom, just for the sheer delight of being able to see forever in all directions. There was a big school of mackerel or something small and silver between me and the surface near the Honey Bear, all just scintillating brilliantly in all the sunlight. It was a dive of such joyfulness that neither of us wanted to end it; I sucked a 95 down below 500 psi for the first time EVER. 80+ minutes in the water, because neither of us could bear to leave.

It's nice to see all these viz reports coming in. =D> Keep them coming. If the steady flow of reports continues it will be very helpful for planning. Sure wish I could be there right now!

So well put LCF!! Perfectly & succinctly captured! =D>

Don't get me wrong, I'm a died in the wool, green-dark-and-cold PNW diver, but when the viz gets like this it is simply a delight.

Get out there and dive people!! :fish:

Thursday canNOT come soon enough.

Soooooo jealous! I'm travelling for work this week and can't get back in the water until Friday (fly-time restraints and all). :crybaby: I sure hope it holds up. I was at Cove 2 last Thursday, and it was epic (even for a noob like me based on Grateful's post on it). Sounds like it's gotten even better. Can't wait to get back!

Mukilteo T-dock tonight was GREAT! 25-30 minimum. I could see the surface from the Geodome easily.

Three Tree North this evening was not as good as Sunday, but, still a respectable 20-30 feet or so. Could only see the first two tire reefs at a time.

get out and dive post haste!!!!! it was some perhaps the 4th or 5th best on the ibeams that i've seen in 18 years of diving out here...

Lets just say that on the way in... we looked up from 50 or 60 feet, and not only could we see ripples for ever... we could see the CLOUDS!!!!!! yup... discernible clouds. amazing.

I LOVE this time of year... it's like a box of crackerjacks ;)

I just have to share the viz we had at Monterey Bay's Metridium field yesterday. I conservatively call it 40, but I suspect it was a lot more than that. For those who haven't been there from shore, you follow this big old pipe out a couple hundred yards, and then zig about 45 degrees to the left to get to the rocks where the anemones and associated critters are. This was our third dive there, and the first time we could actually see the rocks and the giant anemones from the end of the pipe. It was incredible. There are several shots at http://s205.photobucket.com/albums/bb13 ... 207-22-08/, as well as pix of some of the neat critters we found. I don't know how much the full moon and a higher tide plus colder water had to do with the viz, but I'll take it, however it happened.

Wednesday morning, the 23rd. Just returned from Langley Tire Reef. Great visibility for change, 25- 30 feet. Why I could not have it last Sunday at the wrecks ? :crybaby: :crybaby:

Interesting viz at Redondo tonight. We splashed at about 7 or so and the viz in the shallows down to the end of the pilings was great. You could see from the new pump to the ladder.

Down at the first tire reef heading on the west profile, you could see the observation tube. Viz just kept getting worse as we got deeper. Down at the last boat, you could barely see from the bow to the stern.

Higlight of the dive was the small school of salmon under the pilings. Saw maybe 20-30 10 to 12 inch. The sandlances were out in force as well, saw one school that was as far as the eye could see.

I was so pleased with the vis at Langley yesterday morning, that I went back for an evening dive on incoming tide. As Coachrenz reports, I experienced same , vis on upper twenty feet was much better then down in the deeper part of the tire reef. 25 + above and 12 below it.

Alki Cove 2 last night viz was initially very good - 30+ feet at 5:50pm. By the end of the dive it was down to 15 feet or so. Looks like it's been better at low tides recently - or it's just progressively getting back to "normal"...

You must have been one of the hordes of divers at Redondo last night!

Arrived at 10, splashed about 11. Very high tide. Viz was decent, I'd say 20' but really about the limit of our lights. Of course I didn't have Sounder's Kelp Cutter / Water Boiler / Coffee Maker 50w Salvo, but a nice dive in any case. We didn't go below 62 fsw. Critters were out in force. Those of you who dive Redondo regularly are probably used to this - there were scores, and probably hundreds of BlackBelly Eelpouts out, along with almost as many Snake Pricklebacks, and quite a few Roughback Sculpin. All over the place... Bassman kept tapping the sand as we headed for shore, and the water was filled with SandLances shooting all over the place, running into us, etc. Fun dive!

Haven't gotten home at 1 AM from a dive in a long time! Headed out again in a few hours for a 3 tanker!! :supz:
