Breaking in the dive van

Finally, the dive van got to go diving! Well, WE went diving. The van stayed in the parking lot.

It was awesome! An enclosed place to change, an elevated and clean place to sit and assemble gear, surfaces I didn't care about scratching or getting wet... Simple stuff, but it really made things more enjoyable.

And, we saw an octopus under the first boat at Redondo!

Other than my ongoing flooding drysuit, it was fabuliscious - and the van makes my environmentalist heart palpate, while my hedonistic diving side soars.

Go figure.

It even has 2 places to suit up so you don't have to fall over each other. Sweet :luv:

Yup! Not only THAT, but I don't have to crouch or bend to even set up the gear. It's all at waist height!

I'm so spoiled!

Nice! =D
And here I thought a truck's tailgate was better. But all things considdered, this looks better!
Other great dive rigs have been the Scubalance (the ambulance conversion) and that cool Sprinter van that Josh uses.
Although Cardiver dives out of his Audi A4, so that makes about any vehicle a dive-rig! :supz:

An ambulance would be awesome for sure. They actually made them from this sort of Econoline van. There is a factory ambulance option package including dual alternators. But this Beast is big enough that I think driving an even bigger box would be nerve-wracking.

You should see my buddies box van. It has 2 compressors, one for surface supply and one for filling tanks. A complete dive tending station with com setup and lots of storage room as well as work benches. Of course its for commercial ops and a bit a bit large for parking in normal parking spaces. :penelope:

Now just to note do I see some kind of protective spray in liner inside the van? Just thinking of the salt water corroding things back there if not protected. I have seen some tailgates on vehicle that took a beating over time and ended up being replaced.

I have wanted to get one of them commercial FORD mini type vans and spray liner the inside for a dive vehicle. :angelblue:

Pretty damn sexy but in the northwest? You'd have to put up a popup over it!

I have Lyntrux Hot Spray-on Bed liner in my truck and its 10 years old and still protecting the bed.

The van has a Lyntrux liner inside, up to the roofline. We drive and dive with protection.

It's true, I had visions of shag carpet and a waterbed in the back.

Yup, I did. I have fond memories of that! Though the water bed was a no go.
