Octos

Post by RVbldr »

I have an Oceanic Alpha 9 Octo with the SP MK25 1st stage. Sitting around, I also have an old Sherwood Magnum that can't pass the bench check on the 1st stage due to some old service bulletin and parts availability. If the 2nd stage would pass a bench check, would it be beneficial to swap out the Oceanic for the SW Magnum?

Magnum is a simple downstream reg that works off the same pressures as SP. No problem using it.
The Oceanic is the same basic design. Probably there would not be a big difference but the only way to tell is try it. Tuning might be the deal breaker. Put them both on and take them for a dive. Swap 'em out shallow and at depth and see what you like better.

Is the Oceanic your main primary?

Not at all, I use the SP S600 for primary so I'm keeping that. The Oceanic is the Alpha 9 Octo version, vs. their straight Alpha 9 so I may just need to do the comparison.
