Saanich Inlet diving

Post by LCF »

I just saw a pretty incredible offer for a two night/one diving day trip to Saanich Inlet, and I'm wondering if anybody has dived up there, and what they can tell me about the diving? The hotel looks wildly fabulous, especially for the price . . .

It's an absolutely gorgeous area with some great diving. The Cloud Sponges in Saanich Inlet will take your breath away. See here for an article and pics:

The dive charter operator that I dived with is no longer in business, but I'm told that Rockfish Divers does charters in the inlet.

I'd definitely go back....

Lynne-

Let's trailer the boats up there and do it ourselves.

My guess is, Doug, that the hotel outside of the package would cost more than the package does, and I'd have fuel costs for hauling the boat . . . No, let Rockfish Charters figure out where the best places are to go, and feed me something hot between the dives.

LeeAnne might like the spa . . . Wanna join us?

John, Rockfish Charters is the operation that's teamed up with the hotel to offer the package. It just looks extremely tempting. Should we think about trying to get a small group of people together to go up and take advantage of this?

I saw that deal, too- the place looks really nice, and I bet my wife would love the spa- I'm definitely thinking about trying to scrape something together.....

I haven't dived there, but I've stayed at that place, and it's worth the cost just for the room. (Ithink we paid more) All the rooms face out over the marina, which is a nice view. The food is awesome and the pub there has a good atmosphere. (And I seem to remember the prices not being too bad) I've vowed to go back and do a dive or two while Jamie goes to the spa. It's really close to downtown victoria and the buchart (sp?) gardens, which I'm told are really nice in the winter lit up with lights. If I didn't have a little one about to arrive I'd be on it myself.

It sounds especially good right now since $591.00 CDN is currently only somewhere around $450.00 US....

That's exactly what we were thinking!
