GPO Input needed!
Spread the word, tell your dive buddies, clubs, etc! It's now time for public input on the GPO issue. Your comments are wanted by WDFW for options A, B, C and D. You can attend one of the two public input meetings, or send in your written comments if you'd rather. http://www.wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regu...

Nolan, that was GREAT!! You definitely have a talent for this. Good soundtrack too. It actually fit the serenity of the scenes. Wonderful color. I liked how you paused and at first it would look like a photo - and then your eye would catch some minute movement. That was cool! Were you on Lujac's Que...

Re: ID help with a small fish
Since you say they're free-swimming, that sounds a lot more like a YOY Rockfish than a sculpin. YOY Blacks and Yellowtails (and probably Blue-Sided too) are pretty long and slender, so that's a possibility. So that might be what you saw, because they do love to hang out under rocks and such. They al...

Re: ID help with a small fish
Hey Lynne,
Did those guys rest on the rock or were they free-swimming?
The shape from above almost looks like a really pale Longfin Sculpin. Without a side shot it's hard to tell the proportions though.

Re: Black-eyed goby question
Not sure, because sometimes I see it, and sometimes I don't. In California, that bright blue patch is much more prominent, so there might be slight geographical differences? They use the patch as an ID feature down there.

Langley Tire Reef closing?
I read in one of Bellingham's dive shop newsletters that Langley Tire Reef is closing the first of the year. Does anyone know if that is a seasonal or a permanent closure?

So here's my report on the WDFW Commission public input session this morning in Olympia: Before we even got to offer public input, the Director (who answers to the Commission) gave them a report on what THEY recommended, of which 5 options were put on the table (BEFORE we even got to speak, mind you...

ID this hat!
I love surprise packages in the mail, and this one was THE BEST! Friend and dive buddy Cindy Molitor knitted this hat for me and included this note:
REEF Level 6 Exam:
ID this hat.
AWESOME! Think you know what fish it is?

Re: Janna's photo used by the Seattle Times.
Thank you all! I think it's a pretty bleak looking photo - I've got WAY better wolfie pics, but that's the one they wanted to use. They also used a photo of schooling rockfish - and you can see it on the online version of the article, don't know if it made the print version of the paper - but in any...

(I never knew that before). The Bering Wolffish is found in the n...
