+1 I'll also be at DATC and, if timing were to work out, I have a few different ones you'd be welcome to dive. I'll gladly talk you through the "whats" but more importantly the "whys." Then we'll go diving. One note... always ask the "why" question. If you don't get a r...

Re: Hello all! (again)
Is there much in the way of shore diving there? There are places around the waterfront of the town that look interesting, but I haven't a clue what currents they might involve. I'm spending some time out in PA more often these days and would love to go for a tour sometime.

I love Light Monkey!! Great lights, best customer service (especially for people who do dumb things like I do), and you instantly get 10 bonus cool-points for having monkeys on your gear.

Happy Birthday BFO.
Two years ago members of NWDC donated funds and talents (thanks Josh & Rick) to install this AED at Cove 2, in memory of Jake ("Big Fame One"). Today is his birthday.

I KNEW Koos was going to have a new avatar . . . Farnsworth . . . Farnsworth is why we dive, and train, and spend ridiculous sums of money on equipment. From gathering all my courage to pick up a 35 pound scooter, while standing in my fins at the gate but not quite in position to leave the boat (ho...

Re: How much do thigh pockets affect trim?
Did you lose or gain weight? I went very head-heavy when I lost 30lbs. Interesting, I may be 10lbs heavier. I have no idea how well the scale is calibrated though, it was in the bathroom cabinet when I moved in. I actually had to completely redistribute my weight in doubles after losing the weight ...

Another highlight for me was the site at Anacapa. Literally billions of brittle stars covering every surface. I wasn't sure what they were at first and then to let Koos know, I scooped up a big pile of them and put them on his scooter. Also... Lingcod! It could have been confused with a BC dive sav...

Re: How much do thigh pockets affect trim?
It depends on what you put in them!
Not much, if at all. Nothing you're going to have in your pockets are going to weigh much. SMB, spool, spare mask, wet notes, dive alert, strobe, rubber-chicken, etc.

On the first morning I heard the excitement at the bow and then saw the 4 male bottle-nosed dolphins playing in the pressure wake of the bow. I ran to the back of the boat and said, "Laurynn, drop everything you're doing and grab your camera!!" The footage was definitely worth it. Conditio...

All, Thank you for your posts! I am definitely looking at the 40, I have only dove to 100' or deeper a few times, but for planning purposes I wanted to plan the worst case scenario and make sure I had a back up plan in place that would put me on the surface safely following a conservative ascent p...
