Re: Cutting tool on camera rig?
I think it's a great idea. I believe that having more cutting tools is a better than having less. And they should be easy to get at. I carry a knife and a line cutter attached to the wrist strap that holds my computer, as well as EMT shears that move around my kit because I haven't decided where the...

Josh, Are you handing out money to be considered "friendly", because I have some school loans that you could contribute to, and I would friend you on FB, even though I rarely if ever go on that place. :) And that's saying something because I don't friend you unless you are a friend of min...

I don't know why traffic is down, I but know that for me, I lost a lot of enthusiasm when a good friend of mine was banned for what I considered to be having an opinion with which others disagreed (and it wasn't the first such occurrence) Hi, Matt! I want to start off by acknowledging that the vast...

Re: Exciting dives
Wow, looks like there are some very cool dives planned. I haven't even heard of all those dives, thanks for sharing! For me a) I have Port Hardy and Deception Pass planned in April, and Neah Bay in Aug. Can't wait. b) I want to get back out to watermans' wall, salt creek, and the san juan islands. ...

I do not comment very often, but I do check this site at least every week. All events have cycles, at times there are "issues" and I do believe the weather will also influence activity. I do know that where I currently am, diving is a bit tricky. I live in Michigan, so it is a long jump g...

It seems like ALL of the Internet dive boards I haunt have been really slow for the last few years, actually. Thanks for the love, those of you who brought it. And, as many have pointed out, this site is what we make it...it is quite literally the sum total of our posts. Whether those posts are trip...

They were worried about negatively impacting the GPOs self esteem. Didn't want to send it into a shame spiral. You insensitive beast.spatman wrote:Wussy California divers. That wasn't even a big GPO.

I never asked any questions of the buddy but I will say I didn't notice a back up bottom timer or computer on his arm while talking to him and the victim so he may have gone the more cautious route of extra deco for lack of information. I recall that the diver who surfaced first said his buddy's co...

Helium and OC
So, I just finished a 6 month dry spell with a few tune up dives before a deep dive tomorrow. My fill station partner had warned me that the cost of HE had gone way up, but I don't pay much attention to gas costs. It's always been quite reasonable w my ccr. So, I blended up a fresh dil tank of 10/60...

And although I didn't do any research at all when making the above statement (as noted in my next post), here is a study that provides VERY good proof that dehydration plays a large role in DCS, in an experiment put on by the Aerospace Medical Association. The abstract to that paper follows: (publi...

Re: My son and I are new to diving
Welcome to the site! There is much to learn- as you probably already figured out, diving here is a lot different from diving in Hawaii. Your gas consumption will improve the more you dive, but be careful- running out of air here can be a life-threatening experience. Keep a close eye on that.
