Draft of Salish Sea Nudibranch poster
check it out.... hopefully all my Dendronotus and Flabellinas are correctly named. There are 30 different types, I had to cull a few species that I couldn't identify or just plain didn't have good shots. (dotos and itty bitty white ones mostly). Let me know if I screwed up :) Dan salish-sea.jpg

Parking at Three Tree
I'm not sure when they put in the signs so I may be the last person that didn't know this, but its probably worth passing on that there are nearly a dozen or more 'no parking' signs around the small parking lot at Three Tree. It must have cost a several thousand dollars to lay out that spread, so I ...

Red Octopus eggs?
I was diving at Redondo today and came across several small GPOs and red octopus. One Red was at the entrance of a pvc pipe, stretching its body across the opening in a protective fashion. I took a few pictures of it, but when I got home and viewed the photos I saw a pink mass that I hadn't noticed ...

I'm going through my old files and trying to fill gaps in my nudibranch IDs Anyone have an idea as to what this is? Re: Zipper Tests - The Results Are In!
So now they tell me.
I've been through three metal zippers on my DUI the last 8 years. Decided I'd try the plastic ones. If this one makes it for two years it'll be at least on par with the metal version.

Re: Happy New Year - Photo of the Year
Lots of great dives in 2015, but none more memorable than Verde Island in the Philippines last June. An amazing level of biodiversity and life that one can't truly imagine until you are confronted with it. My 8 days there barely scratched the surface. https://hershman.smugmug.com/Underwater-Photogra...

Re: Puerto Galera nudibranchs
thanks, everyone!
It was a cool project. I'm going to work on our local slugs soon (I certainly have plenty of images to choose from, and that's partly why I haven't done them yet).

Puerto Galera nudibranchs
I had the good fortune of going to Puerto Galera in the Philippines last summer for 8 days. This area is in the 'coral triangle' described as having the most biodiversity of any place on the planet. I've been sitting down to do some projects with the photos, the first one is a poster of all the nudi...

Did you notice if the land is still for sale there?
I didn't see a 'for sale' sign..... It's posted with a sign saying that it's supported by hoodsport diving. I'm not up on this however.

Octopus Hole viz report
We went to Octopus Hole yesterday on a rather chilly last day of November. Air temps were about 28 degrees. We took a gamble on viz as we were hopeful that the clear cold weather had improved conditions since the monsoons earlier in the month. On arrival we found milky white surface water, but hopin...

Monterey/Carmel slug hunt
I went down to Monterey last weekend November 21) to do some diving with my dive buddy (and slug expert) Brenna Green where we caught a trip with the Silver Prince dive charter for a three tank trip to the Carmel area. Water temps were the same as back home in Puget Sound but having air temps of 72 ...

Re: Flower Garden Banks, Texas Caribbean
I was on the Fling for these same dives with Scubie Doo. Rather than start a new thread I'll just piggyback here and avoid confusion. :) For each dive I used my Wide Angle lens hoping to get the classic Manta Ray shot. Not successful with that, had to settle for a flyby. (perhaps I'll have to go bac...

Re: Six Gill Shark at Redondo this morning!
Viz was about 4 feet down to about the 40 foot depth. Then it opened up a bit to about 12 feet by the time we got to the Carousel Boat. It was a really low tide, so that compounded things a bit.enchantmentdivi wrote:What was viz like???

Six Gill Shark at Redondo this morning!
I was diving at Redondo this morning at about 10:00 AM with my buddy Mark Nayer. We went down to the carousel boat where we found a large area of sea lettuce that was covered in Hooded Nudibranchs. We spent several minutes poking through the sea lettuce photographing the nudibranchs, then I signaled...
