No way black bear bob! Everyone knows you can only sidemount in a cave! Isn't that what one of your 23 year old "veteran DIR" buddies told you? Lol :smt064

LOTS of great images, John! Many thumbs-up-worthy shots! I have two questions:
1. Why does Curt look like he's furious at every sponge or gorgonian he's looking at? :dontknow:
2. Is this the "invasive" (or whatever that term was) tunicate Scott was talking about?

Thanks, Bruce!

1) Except when he has a beer in his hand or he's looking at porno, Curt almost always looks pissed!

2) No, that photo is a "Glassy Tunicate", Ascidia paratropa, and ranges naturally from the Aleutian Islands to California. I liked this particular shot because of the beautiful little shrimps at lower right, (there are two of them), as well as all of the other invertebrate species shown in the photo. This was a shot taken at Mozino Point, and really emphasizes the huge amount of life found there at all depths.

I set down there at 200 feet waiting for one of those gorgonians to swim by, but no, I had to go searching for one of these buggers. You would be pissed also if you had to wait and none ever swam by!
And those sponges! You know how much deeper the oceans would be if it wasn't for all these stupid sponges soaking up all that water? I could own beach front property in Iowa.

At one point you were at 180 feet waiting for me to swim by ... unfortunately, I stopped at 165 ...

That is because I knew there was fresh tuna and cold beer within 2 minutes of the dock :joshsmith:
