big jelly
Re: big jelly
Ouch! No touchy! Bet it was pretty spectacular when it was in the water. I'd love to see it but I bet you couldn't get very close without getting burned.

Tulalip doesn't offer much in the way of diving, but beach walking is wonderful and big jellies wash ashore there all of the time. So do seals, sea lions, sturgeon, and fish of all sort. The marine equivalent of roadkill. Another way to critter watch while seeking living animals - mammals and seabirds.

Happy to be alive.
Re: big jelly
Found one of these this past Tuesday at Day Island, just as we crested the wall on our way back in. It kept dive-bombing into the bottom, raise itself a few feet, then dive-bomb again - try to stir up food? I managed a few pics, despite the silt it was kicking up.
Re: big jelly
Probably not long for this world. If you look at the bottom pic you can see that it has lost almost all of it's feeding tentacles.

Ain't nothing in the world quite like scootering into one of those things ... must be what it feels like to kiss an electric fence ...
