Shrimp help

Post by JohnE »

Found a bunch of these guys off south Lopez Island this weekend. Any ideas?

I'm thinking possibly a Three Spined Shrimp but I don't see the 3 spines...

Three spine would be my guess, Heptacarpus tridens, because I can just barely make out the three spines on his head, right around where the eyes are. But I'll defer to the expert on this one if he wants to chime in.

Yes, it's a threespine (Heptacarpus tridens). A little misleading in this case as this one has a fourth spine farther out on the rostrum.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if those were the spines, especially since it looks like 4 of them.
