Friday evening (xprop) seach and rescue at Muk

Post by Paulicarp »

I found out the hard way that Cuda torque is stronger than threadlock. Yes, my x prop is currently logging some solo bottom time without me and I'm going to spend my evening mounting a recovery effort. The search area is straight out from the Silver Cloud hotel, West of the Geodome, between 80 and 30 feet deep.

Anyone interested in helping in the seach effort is welcome, I will even fill your tanks for you. As an added bonus, whoever finds and returns my prop gets 5 free nitrox or air fills.

I'll be splashing around 4pm. Of course anyone is welcome, but bring your own buddy.

He doesn't need luck, I'm coming! We really need Mattleycrue. Anybody who can find a jetfin in the current, in 2' of vis should be able to find an X-prop in good vis.

Is it an XL jet? Maybe it's the mate to the one in my garage!

ok, maybe a small factor- it took us all of 12 minutes for Jake to spot it. I came over and confirmed it was not a narcosis induced hallucination. That came later... But I digress- yes we found it! I'd like to say I'm grateful to Jake, but it's really his wife who gets the credit for letting him come play on short notice. Thanks!

Paul: I'm glad you found it. I wasn't available but planned on looking at the next available opportunity -probably tomorrow (Saturday). I'll still probably dive there tomorrow morning.

Sweet stubby! (twss)

If he was off the end of the fishing pier at 90, he was probably right next to my prop, trying to distract you so you wouldn't find it. "nothing to see here, move along" I'm sure he had plans to keep it. :P

Glad yah got it back
I think you've figured out the root cause of your problems. Even sea lions get annoyed by splitfin divers silting out their dive sites. Switch back to your jets and you'll be safe from the sea lion silt prevention patrol from now on. - NWbrewer

I would have figured that screamy sound would'a scared any wildlife away, I'm not even sure if I can go to sleep now... :tomnic:

That's awesome that you found it. Isn't some loc-tite prescribed for keeping that thing on? You would think that the torque would tighten that bolt, not loosen in :(
