Point Hudson

Post by YellowEye »

Hi
I met up with Dusty2 for a nice dive at Point Hudson. As always, he's a great guide, great diver, and very knowledgeable about the critters that live there and the conditions for diving it.

Here were some of the sights:

#3 looks like sand anemones ... if so they're "juveniles".

Love that site ... it's a macro photographer's dream ...

#3 is a ten-tentacled burrowing An. They are pretty common at Hudson. P. 87 of ML of PNW.
Can't ID #6, sorry.

I'd like to know what #6 is, too!

Agreed, very nice colors Eric. I like that barnacle eating nudi. Those are usually so hard to shot because they blend in so well. Your head-on sculpin shot is sweet too.

I have seen those anemones in pic #3 too. I wondered if they were juveniles of some sort.

Nice shots! #6 looks like a compound tunicate of some sort, if I had to guess. I don't have any books on hand though.

Those are ten-tentacled burrowing Anemones and that's as big as they get. There are literally thousands of then at Hudson just before the drop off!

I think the other is a pale mushroom tunicate but I wouldn't bet the farm on it!
