MATE ROV Competition this weekend!!

Post by kdupreez »

Anyone else from NWDC going to be there this weekend?

I'll be there this weekend with the GUE Seattle crew (We're sponsoring divers and gear/gas for the event) and seems to be a super awesome fun event!! :joshsmith:

Doug and I will be there from 7:30am till close tomorrow and Saturday i think theres like 5 or 6 more of the crew coming out in various shifts through the next 2 days.

Come say "HI" if you are around!

It is quite fun, a great community service, and a very unusual dive experience. This is a bunch of very positive people, and great kids leaning stuff you simply do not get in a 'regular' education.
Highly recommended.
Viz is GREAT, water is warm, and they feed you pretty decently.

LOL - check out the local WA team from Mount Vernon and their "Iron Man" inspired ROV..

They kicked ass and was the board leaders in the Explorer ROV class in the international event!! :joshsmith:

Some cool fun in the video at around minute 8:00 when they got tangled up.. and I was called to rescue them :pirate:

Awesome work for high school kids. I wish we could have done more ROV work when I worked with NOAA. My 7 year old was all over the video with "helpful hints" like using a big crane arm on the ROV. lol

I am thoroughly impressed. Those tasks are a lot harder to do than most people realize and that ROV made it look pretty darn easy!
