Hi
ScubaJess and I and several friends have been making runs out to the Strait of Juan De Fuca lately. It's been a lot of fun exploring and learning, and we had some incredible luck with findings of Rock Greenlings (super elusive) and Gooseneck Barnacles! And I hope you guys all saw h2odoc's awesome video from Sekiu with the incredible swimming birds! (viewtopic.php?f=14&t=28196&p=296958&hilit=sekiu#p296925)
Here are some recent photos:
To complete the picture of what diving is like out there, here are some older pics from the site
If you do ever head out there, be super careful. Diving in waves can be dangerous. Viz is bad when there's waves anyway. Have a plan b dive in mind (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25130). Scubie Doo pointed us to the surf report at magicseaweed.com, which has been very useful for planning. It can get super wavy out there even when there's no wind. It's best to go on a 1-star surf day, of which there's not a lot of this time of year.
Have a great weekend!

Fantastic shots. The one of the duck is so cute. Took me awhile to figure out what I was looking at on the pinniped pic!

Friends: You bring a great amount of pleasure to this old armchair diver with memories of Salt Creek/Seiku/Neah Bay. YE, each of your pictures is composed beautifully, any one could be framed and hung in my home. Wow. Jess, I love everything you do. I have yet to identify your duck, it is a different bird than Doc videoed. As with Calvin, I had to stare at your sea lion for some time to get it. Great job.

Thanks OldSalt!!!
It's a DUCK!!!
- Away Mission 886
- Salt Creek, WA
- The experts say long tailed duck (used to be called "oldsquaw")
As for the huge sea lion who blew bubbles at my macro lens I thought it was a funny snap! Not the correct lens but I liked the bubbles waterfall effect he created! He was a fun dive buddy at salt Creek! He was following me around!
